Tsum is a renowned shopping centre in the centre of Kiev, next to the city’s town hall, built in 1939 and completely renovated in 2016.  The historical building covers an area of 45,000 m2, including a business park (25,000 m2), clothing brands and luxury accessories, sophisticated dining venues, homeware stores, perfumery, cosmetic and jewellery shops.
This enormous Ukrainian shopping centre selected the best brands in the building market for its renovation works.

Type of works:
The renovation concerned the entire building, which was transformed into a modern shopping centre and is in fact described as the Harrods of Kiev.
The project was awarded by the owner company TOV Esta Holding, to the London-based firm Benoy, which worked with the Ukrainian firm, Larisa Skorik, to coordinate the renovation works.

Materials used:
Many different materials were selected, inspired by various elements and shapes, to renovate this historical commercial building. Ceramic producers Atlas Concorde and Ragno supplied porcelain stone tiles for the indoor and outdoor floor and wall coverings. Litokol supplied several types of products for different scopes: surface insulation, adhesion, sealing and cleansing.
The Litoflex K80 enhanced cementitious adhesive in grey and white was used to glue the large tiles, while the Litokol X11 enhanced cementitious adhesive was used to glue the smaller ones. The Primer X94 was used to insulate the gypsum walls before laying the ceramic tiles with cementitious adhesives. Cement-based grouts such as Litchrom 1-6 were used to grout joints measuring 1 to 6 mm, in colours C.40 Antracite, C.10 Grigio and C.60 Bahama Beige. In other situations, it was preferred to use the Starlike® two-component epoxy grout in Silver C.220, Grigio Portland C.560 and Grigio Fango C.280, and the specific Litonet cleanser to complete cleaning operations.
