In Croatia, far from the noise of the city and surrounded by the sea, the Lafodia Sea Resort enjoys a one-of-a-kind location for its type, on an island with unique environmental characteristics.
The island of Lopud, near the city of Dubrovnik in Dalmatia, is part of the Elaphiti archipelago, the last inhabited islands where you can stay in the South of Croatia, far from traffic, pollution and the stress of the city.
The luxury hotel, a modern, 4-star establishment, is made up of two 9-storey buildings, linked on the first two floors, where the reception, the kitchen-restaurant and swimming pool can be found.
The buildings are moulded to the natural slope of the terrain, respecting the geomorphological characteristics of the position of the hotel.
Inside the two buildings, a splendid and refined garden has been created, which takes guests to a woodland area via well-finished spiral staircases and panoramic terraces.
Type of Works:
The construction work involved:
- creating a 13,500m2 usable space hotel complex with 182 rooms, fitted with all modern comforts and accessories, 6 lifts, 3 bars, an infinity pool, automation, fibre optics.
- a 750m2 wellness centre on two floors, including a thermarium (sauna, biosauna, Turkish bath, Silence Room), an indoor jacuzzi, an outdoor jacuzzi, and 6 special treatment booths.
- a 35,000m2 park surrounding the structure.
Materials Used:
Many different types of materials were used in the construction of the various buildings in the Lafodia Sea Resort. Firstly, with regards to the wall coverings and ceramic floors, the decision was drawn towards the wide-ranging offer of the Marazzi Group. The glass mosaics, used mainly in the wellness centre and swimming pool, are from leading mosaics company Sicis. The precious mosaics are made to measure according to the project requirements of an interior designer who was supervising the works.
Litokol products were chosen to fix and seal the Sicis mosaics.
All the tiles were affixed with the Litoelastic two-component adhesive and grouted with Starlike®epoxy sealant in the Travertino and Bianco Ghiaccio colours. Even the artistic mosaics were grouted with the translucent sealant Starlike®Crystal, particularly suitable for the neutral grout required for these real works of art. Litonet Gel was used in the final stage. Bathroom fixtures, made by Hatria, were sealed with silicone from the Ottoseal range, in the same colours as the Starlike®sealant.
Genesis steel profiles were chosen to finish the mosaic decorated wall edges, giving an increased touch of elegance to the wellness centre. Starlike®, in the Decor version, is particularly suited to continuous waterproof surfaces, and was used to decorate the external surface of the indoor jacuzzi. Happy Sauna, experts in wellness centres, supplied the special systems for the centre, and the alluminium thermal break windows, doors and profiles were supplied by the Schueco company.
